Abstract: Remote controls and tele-operation platforms are object of great commercial interest in several application domains and disciplines. Reliable and effective platforms could completely change the vision at certain environments, as well as novel perspectives for production and business models could be a reality. The cloud environments are constantly increasing their popularity providing competitive and dynamic solutions for distributed computing and systems. In this paper, remote controls and tele-operation platforms are considered as composed of pervasive cloud services.

OVERVIEW OF CURRENT COMMERCIAL PAAS PLATFORMS

Abstract: The development of Cloud Computing has paid attention mainly to the virtualization of hardware components, under a scheme of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). Most of Cloud vendors offer solutions based in IaaS to offer virtual services and applications, instead of developing a proper Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution. This paper analyzes some existing commercial PaaS clouds, identifying in what degree they meet some essential requirements. These requirements are also argued, and guidelines for addressing them using an academic approach in a PaaS solution are provided.

Abstract: Information and Communication Technologies are more and more present in the modern society. The penetration of personal devices in worldwide citizens is daily increasing. In addition, the accessibility of those devices is being more and more improved in order to profit the technology advances to help people with disabilities in daily life. Nevertheless, the processing capabilities of those personal devices are not enough to cover the need of intelligence for holistic assistive technologies. This addressesinnovative approaches in which remote resources can be remotely accessed and consumed by mobile devices . In this paper, a cloud-based architecture is presented. The CORE infrastructure provides an intelligent and pervasive environment composed of remote services to assistive applications.

SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE FOR LIFESTYLE MONITORING PLATFORM IN DIABETES MANAGEMENT

Abstract: Diabetes management has no patterns in the actual health industry. Many models have been presented for monitoring its behavior focusing only in blood glucose values and basing patient evolution on diary records. The presented system describes the architecture for fully monitoring diabetes patients through a platform of subsystems built in different technologies. Internet stands as a solution to overcome interoperability troubles when trying to communicate native different environments. Patient applications sharing services in a dynamic way provides a new way to enhance Personalized Health Systems.

TRACKING CLOUD ON THE INTERNET USING A CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE

Abstract: In this paper we identify requirements for cargo management, and propose a Cloud based infrastructure that allows cargo tracking and monitoring in a transportation chain. The Cloud infrastructure provides services for cargo registration, identity management and notification support using simple and uniform REST based protocols.
